Sad News!

A startling development has taken place in the Eichenberg home: Coach Eichenberg's dad has cancer.  This information is important because it will impact this year's summer training.  Stay tuned for more updates to follow.

Due to some schedule conflicts off-season practice is on hold.  Coach Eichenberg and Coach Vanderyacth are both unavailable at this time but we hope to get back on track in a few weeks.  Stay tuned!

NCAA Wrestling Semi-Finals tonight

Three Michigan native wrestlers will compete in the NCAA National Tournament tonight.  Catch it on ESPNU @7:00pm!  Metcalf, Gomez, and Allegan native Came Simaz will all be wrestling for a spot in the finals!

The whole crew is in Omaha covering the best NCAA tournament ever...will Iowa repeat? (Every year the ante keeps rising). Does a school like Iowa State, Cornell, or Ohio State have the potential to knock off the Hawkeyes? Trey is out...

After noticing that Trey seemed to be exhausted after his matches even though his conditioning has increased we took him to the doctor for an evaluation.  We were notified today that Trey has Mono.  This explains his exhaustion after hard matches and his inability to recover physically.

Because of this we will not be going to the MYWA state meet.  Good luck to Brandon as he seeks to bring home a state title!

Incoming Freshman Look Tough!

With the middle and high school wrestling seasons coming to a close coach Eichenberg is already looking to next year.  After watching some incoming freshman compete at the MYWA regional tournament he's even more excited. 

Brandon Tresemer and Trey Eichenberg both advanced to the MYWA state tournament at the Kellogg Arena which kicks off Match 26th in Battle Creek, Michigan.  The top three placers will qualify to compete at the National Tournament and become part of Team MYWA.  Connor Hinson was also expected to compete and most likely would have advanced but was unable to compete due to an injury he sustained during competition on Saturday.

Tragic Loss

This is a tragic loss and the timing could not b worse.  Pray for Garrett Schaner (ranked #1 in D3) as he heads to the MHSAA Wrestling State Tournament, his older brother Seth (State Champ at 140 D3 2009), and the whole Big Rapids wrestling team.

If you are a middle schooler make sure you let Brian (MYWA Coach) know that you are planning on attending.

 

High School Wrestlers!  You just need to show up and register the day of the tournament.  Cost is $22.00 for High Schoolers.

New Singlets!!

Here is the new singlet design!  This is where some of the fundraising money that we will be working to raise will go.  You don't have to look "Tight" to be a winner... but it sure is sweet when you're a winner and you look like one!

 

Our goal is to raise $4,400.00 to buy 20 standard singlets and 20 finals singlets.

Dear wrestlers and parents,

We have an outline for our off season practice schedule.  We are still working on a few dates for other things like competing in Lowell's duals throughout the summer, putting on a youth camp as a fund raiser, and perhaps another camp option.  This will give you an idea of what we are looking to do to improve our program for next year, though.

 

A few details:

Myway practice has a fee because in order to compete at the regional and state level, the wrestlers have to be members of Myway.  If your wrestler is not planning on competing, there will be no fee, but they are welcome to keep practicing regardless.  Myway is an excellent opportunity for more mat time!!!

The Team Extreme Gold (May-October) will be every Thursday in Plainfield.  We will take a van over, or car pool, depending on the participation.  This will be our Thursday practice, and for those who do not attend, we will teach/review what was learned at the following Tuesday practice.  This is a commitment required for those seeking to be state qualifiers/ champions.

The June leg riding camp will also be at team extreme in Plainfield.  This is a three day intensive leg riding camp and required for those seeking to compete at the state level.

The Edge is an all sport conditioning camp for Zeeland East athletes put on by our own football program.  This is a cheap and convenient camp to keep you in shape during the off season.  Both of our boys competed in this last summer and enjoyed it.  Supporting our football program is a bonus!!

Advantage wrestling camp will be held up in Big Rapids, MI.  We will transport the wrestlers up to Big Rapids and they will stay for four days of intensive college level coaching.  This is a requirement for those desiring to be state contenders!!
